Operative Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows a gynecologist to look inside your uterus. Operative hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive gynecological procedure in which an endoscopic optical lens is inserted through the cervix into the endometrial cavity to direct treatment of various types of intrauterine pathology.
Diagnostic hysteroscopy is used to examine the inside of the uterus. It is performed to diagnose abnormal uterine conditions such as polyps, internal fibroids, scarring, etc.
Operative hysterocopy may be used to both diagnose and treat certain conditions such as uterine adhesions, septums, or fibroids which can often be removed through the hysteroscope.
Both, diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy are generally safe and quick procedures that are performed in the office. Sometimes minimal sedation is needed depending on the case.
